Thankful in 2020

11/09

thankful 2020What a year 2020 has been! The challenges have been many, but as we head into the Thanksgiving season, we realize that we also have many things to be thankful for. Residents of The Waters have come together in so many ways. In most cases, these are small things we have done, but when you put them all together, and we look back at this year, it all adds up to something really special.

What We Are Thankful For at The Waters

First, we have to mention an idea that guided us through the long weeks of shutdowns due to COVID-19. Many of us were stuck at home, and while this was difficult in many ways, our neighborhood found a way to look on the positive side of having a little extra time. We found fun, new ways to entertain ourselves, especially outdoors.

Speaking of being outdoors, it’s a joy to have so many outside amenities when you live at The Waters. These beautiful amenities give us so many reasons to go outside to play and spend time with others. With so much space, we were able to do this in a safe, socially distanced way. Whether that meant fishing, watching sunsets from the piers, paddle boarding, hanging out in hammocks, or playing in the parks, we were never at a loss for things to do.

Here are some other specific things our residents are thankful for from the past year:

  • Sidewalk chalk art
  • Getting “booed” for Halloween when neighbors left treats on porches
  • Our neighborhood card, which was a giant poster board that went around the neighborhood with inspiring messages
  • Neighbors coming together and a community to connect with
  • A front porch friendly neighborhood
  • The neighborhood town center that includes a coffee shop, gym, and child activity center that have enabled us to support small businesses right outside our front door
  • An extended pool season

What’s Next for The Waters in 2021?

As we move into 2021, we’re starting to think of ways that we can resume events in the safest way possible! Some events and activities were cancelled this year due to COVID, but we are hopeful that many of those will be able to resume next year, such as our summer kids club, Fourth of July celebration, Halloween Witches Ride, movie nights, and much more.

We also expect to see even more neighbors moving to The Waters soon! The importance of having more space, especially space outdoors, is on everyone’s minds. We know that city dwellers are moving to more rural communities for this reason and others. At The Waters, we will be happy to have you! We love our neighbors and the chance for our community to grow even more in the future. Thank you to all those who have helped make 2020 a special year. Happy Thanksgiving!
