Though the Town of Pike Road, Alabama has only formally existed for a little over a decade, the history of the community itself goes back more than 175 years. The town has experienced a 1,600% population growth during the first decade of the 21st century, making it the fastest growing municipality for the last three years.
Most recently the town was named the #1 most desirable city by Al.com and was found to be a Top 12 best ZIP code in Alabama, based on income and education, by The Washington Post. Pike Road, AL has planned for growth that preserves rural traditions and lifestyles. For example, the town’s zoning encourages smart growth which, in the case of The Waters, means we can grow as a series of compact hamlets—and preserve land for community use.
And, Pike Road has created its own school system. The new school site, a $16 million dollar project which opened in 2015, is located adjacent to The Waters and houses kindergarten through ninth grade. This is the first community school system built in Alabama in decades. The Pike Road School system is scheduled to add a grade each year as construction continues at other school sites in Pike Road.
