Over $200,000 awarded to Pike Road Volunteer Fire Protection Authority
The men and women of the Pike Road Volunteer Fire Protection Authority were congratulated by Congressman Mike Rogers for receiving a grant over $200,000 dollars to help purchase a new firefighting vehicle.
The grant came from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security which administers grants with the purpose of awarding funding directly to fire departments, non-affiliated EMS organizations and state fire training academies that are unaffiliated with a hospital.
“Montgomery County’s first responders are our first line of defense,” Rogers said. “I am pleased to see the federal government is continuing to make these types of investments in the Third District,” he added.
Rogers serves on the Committee on Homeland Security in Congress. Rogers said the grant should be awarded under the 2016 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, an essential federal program which supports first responders across Alabama and the nation.
