PRS: Teacher Recruitment

01/23

Repost from WSFA 12 News:

Pike Road, AL (WSFA) – The new Pike Road school is exactly 202 days away from the first day of class and it needs teachers.

Like many in Pike Road, Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Freeman is excited about this next step. “It means we are real, we are going to hire amazing people that can help our students learn at very high levels,” Freeman said.

In the first part of the hiring process, the school system is holding a teacher recruitment day on Saturday. According to Freeman, the number of positions open is about 50. In the first year, the school will consist of Kindergarten through 8th grade and then continue to grow a grade each year.

Leaders expect at least 300 people to turn out to the recruitment day. Freeman says for this event they are looking for people who are applying for certified positions such as administrators, counselors, librarians, and teachers, who fit their vision.

“People who love to learn and people who are very innovative and can use technology in a very powerful way to really make learning come alive and to think in a different way,” Freeman said.

The recruitment will be held at Pike Road Town Hall. If interested, you should bring a letter of interest and a resume and then expect plenty of homework.

“We will ask some people to do some take home work and then mail it back to us. Then we will go through that and then call people in for interviews,” Freeman said.

Teacher recruitment day will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Leaders advise people to come early due to the anticipated large crowd.
