Award-winning Pike Road High School principal David Sikes aims to make the new school one of the best in the state. That effort begins by creating a culture that is positive, creative, and team-oriented, he said.

“We are working towards making PRHS into one of the top 10 schools in the state of Alabama,” he said. “We are preparing our first senior class (2020) to be college and career ready so they can be successful in their next endeavor in life.”

Sikes was recently named the District 3 Principal of the Year. The district includes about 60 high school principals. Sikes’ peers nominated him based on his experience, accomplishments, and leadership.

Sikes has been an administrator for 19 years and a principal for 17 years. He said it was an honor to be put up for the recognition.

“It was an honor to be nominated, but to win was very humbling,” he said, adding that he has a goal for each day. “To make sure that our students and staff have an enjoyable and challenging place to come every day.”
