People who live in Pike Road, AL are among the wealthiest in Alabama, according to a new analysis of federal data.

Only Mountain Brook ranked better overall in a study of Alabama cities by job and career website Zippia that looked at poverty level, median household income and unemployment rate. The data came from U.S. Census Bureau numbers collected from 2010 to 2015 as part of the American Community Survey.

Pike Road’s median income of $92,609 was third best in the state, behind Madison ($92,965) and Mountain Brook ($130,239).

But only Mountain Brook bettered Pike Road’s overall numbers, which included a 2.8 percent poverty rate and a 3.8 percent unemployment rate.

Pike Road was also the smallest city in the top 10 with a population of 6,605 at the time the data was taken. Zippia didn’t include towns with a population smaller than 5,000.

Millbrook landed at No. 17 with a median household income of $60,489, a poverty rate of 7.4 percent and an unemployment rate of 5.6 percent.

Prattville made an appearance at No. 25. The city had a median household income of $57,478, a poverty rate of 10.2 percent and an unemployment rate of 7.3 percent.

Other River Region cities among the 105 that met the population requirement included Wetumpka at No. 43, Montgomery at No. 50 and Tallassee at No. 51.
