Before he became a Waters resident, Jeff Dickey sold homes there. Quickly he learned that the number one question any potential buyer would ask was, “Do you live here?” His answer would include that it was a goal to build a home at The Waters and the pieces for that goal eventually came together. In 2016, Jeff, along with wife Claire and children Clayton and Arden, became Waters residents. “It’s a dream neighborhood,” says Jeff. “And working here as well adds to the dream.”

Jeff, an Associate Broker with New Waters Realty and New Home Sales Team Leader at The Waters New Home Community, joined the Realty team in 2014 with experience in digital marketing, project management, creative planning and organizational leadership. He quickly became a top producer in the Montgomery and Pike Road real estate markets and holds the Accredited Buyer Representative designation. He says that building relationships, knowing the market and serving peoplewell has been a high priority for him as he goes above and beyond to take exceptional care of his customers. We sat down with Jeff to learn more about his background and what he loves about his community.

Jeff’s Background and Career

A native of Montgomery, Jeff grew up admiring real estate. Over time, he realized his hobby could turn into a career, and he acquired his real estate license. He’s been working in real estate for nearly five years, he says. Jeff began his professional career as a Warranty Claims Analyst with Rheem Manufacturing Company (Water Heater Division) right after college. He’s an alumni of Troy University, where he received a degree in Business Administration.

Career

As a New Home Sales Team Leader, Jeff leads new home agents; coordinates with builders; sells new homes; builds relationships with current and potential customers; and serves as a “builder liaison” that oversees builder products, presales and custom home projects. “I have a hand in most things related to new construction” he says. As a Team Leader, he oversees three different types of home building: inventory, presale and custom. Inventory homes are those in which most of the decisions such as location, plan and selections have already been made. Presale homes are those where the land has been purchased by a builder for residential development and a potential customer can select the type of home to be built on the lot. Custom projects are those where the customer has complete control of their home from choosing their lot, plan and builder.

Since joining the Waters, he’s sold or been a part of dozens of homes — from start to completion.

However, his career has not been without challenges. Particularly, Jeff says that each day is never the same and within the homebuilding industry there can be unforeseen challenges that he must account for daily, such as the condition of the buying market, weather delays or the availability of building materials.

Overall, he says, he’s drawn to this path because he believes it’s worth it to see the magic in customers’ eyes when they begin imagining what their life could be like in their new home at The Waters.

Hobbies and Interests

Jeff served for over eight years as a Church Administrator for Heritage Baptist Church before beginning his career as a Realtor. During that time he received a Masters of Art in Christian Education. Jeff is very involved in the community as an active member of Century Church where he serves on the Leadership Board, is part of the worship band, leads small groups and Century’s connection class. He serves on the Education Committee with the Montgomery Area Association of Realtors and is a member of the Board of Directors for Footprints Ministry, a non-profit organization that serves families with infants in the NICU at area hospitals. Jeff also serves on the PTA Board at Pike Road Elementary School. He just launched a website, The Porch & Pier, which features blogs and other writings from Jeff.
