The Pike Road School System is one of the top school systems in Alabama. Opened in 2015, the school offers both a first-rate education and a large variety of after-school services. The school system’s motto is, “Think. Innovate. Create.” It serves students attending preschool through high school.
The Pike Road Elementary School (PRES) opened in August of 2015 and currently serves grades K-6th. The $16 million project was built adjacent to The Waters and was the first community school built in Alabama in over 10 years. It’s just one of the amenities available to The Waters Pike Road Community.
In August of 2018, Pike Road Schools opened a second campus, the Historic Pike Road School, to house grades 7th-10th. A third campus location will soon be chosen to complete the Pike Road School System.

Trail to Education: A Link Between Home and School
At The Waters, local children can attend school in the same community where they live. One of the most convenient amenities students and residents is the Trail to Education, a path that leads directly from The Waters to the Pike Road Schools. The trail is accessible by foot, bike — and even golf cart. It is open year-round and offers students and parents a safe car-free route between home and school.
Top Town in Alabama
Pike Town Road was named the most desirable city and the second-most successful city in Alabama by AL.com. Some of the factors informing the decision were Pike Town Road’s high walkability score, its proximity to local activities, the local schools and the high number of job opportunities here. AL.com also made note of the plentiful green spaces, public parks and walking trails.
The town is also one of the fastest growing municipalities in Alabama. In the last three years, it’s seen a 1600 percent growth in population.
“The Washington Post” named Pike Town Road’s zip code one of the Top 12 Best Zip Codes in Alabama. The newspaper awarded the town a whopping 90 out of 100 on its “nearby metro” super score. “The Post” also took into account the median income of the town, which clocked in at just under $100,000 annually.
