Fins ‘n Whiskers 2016

04/05

The results are in and the 2016 Fins & Whiskers Catfish Rodeo was another smashing success. Many thanks to all of the fishermen and volunteers who helped make this year’s event possible.

This year 14 teams with over 40 participants fished Lake Cameron. Starting at 4:00 on a stormy Friday and fishing late into the night, the teams returned early Saturday in an effort to win this year’s crown. 239 catfish were counted at the weigh-in. These were some of the largest catfish that we have caught in the tournament. All of the winners were 9 pounds +/-.

Many others took advantage of good weather on Saturday to fish enjoy a day at the lake.

This year’s winners for LARGEST catfish are:

1st Tony Graydon and the “Chapel Hill Whisker Gitters” at 9 pounds 3 ounces
2nd Mike Gracey and “Team Lucky Lane” at 9 pounds 2 ounces
3rd Mike Gracey and “Team Lucky Lane” at 8 pounds 15 ounces

The GRAND PRIZE for the “Most Catfish Caught” category goes to:

Charles Monnier and the “Cat Snatchers” with 38 fish caught.

“Team Alpha” came in a close second with 39 fish caught but they had more members on their team.

Finally, our reigning Catfish Queen, Jill Joiner, surrendered her tiara this year to the 2016 Catfish Princess, Emma Jane Stricklin!

Congratulations to all of our winners! Click here to view the entire album on Flickr.
