The Waters development in Pike Road is the site of Music in May gatherings this month at The Square on Sunday afternoons.

The series kicked off May 6, and will continue through the end of the month. Each night will feature a different musical group, who will provide entertainment starting at 4 p.m.

“The goal is for participants to sit back, relax and enjoy live music in a picturesque setting,” said event organizer Jessie Cocking. “The event is free, so everyone is invited.”

Most of the acts for Music in May are groups that participated previously and are returning because they were warmly received, she said. The events conclude at 6 p.m., giving families plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the evening.

“Each act has its own unique sound. Music ranges from jazz to soft rock,” Cocking said, adding that the H20 Café and Market Store, a restaurant located on the Town Square, will be serving customers.

Upcoming musical performers include John Emil on May 20, followed by Anthony Oliver on May 27.

“Families are urged to grab their lawn chairs, coolers, snacks and friends for the series of great afternoons at The Waters’ Town Square,” Cocking said. “The Waters created this event a few years ago as a way to encourages neighbors to enjoy time together and for guests to come and listen to live music and enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the neighborhood. This is a family-friendly event for all ages.”

The first Sunday in May featured Doctor Ocular, and Rachel Wilson was the highlight of the second Sunday in May.
