While the idea of spring cleaning and getting the home ready for a new season is not ours, at The Waters and in Pike Road, Alabama, we take the idea and really run with it. Whether it’s neighbors freshening up their porches, lawns, landscaping, and gardens or clean up events throughout town, there are many options for spring cleaning this year.
How We Spring Clean at The Waters
When it comes to your home and garden, the number one thing you can do as we head into spring is to clear out and clean off porches, patios, planters and pots, and other areas of landscaping. It will probably only take a work day or a weekend to pull out old, dead plants from last year, sweep off floors, and freshen up furniture.
Add Seasonal Interest and Color
Once those tasks are completed, you’re ready for the fun part! Adding seasonal plants and flowers is a simple, cost-effective way to add a ton of curb appeal to the home. We love SweetCreek Farm Market for many reasons, and it’s a wonderful place to find a huge variety of items for spring planting, such as:
- Hanging baskets of all kinds
- Ferns to add greenery to porches and patios
- Geraniums for big pops of color in several shades
- Vegetables and herbs for containers or planting beds
- Blueberry plants that will not only look great, but allow you to pick your own fruit once they start producing
As spring continues and the weather warms up, SweetCreek will continue getting in new options and varieties of plants and flowers to choose from.
Of course, you need interesting pots, planters, containers, and other accessories for your new plants, as well as decorations for outdoor areas. Local + Bloom, a Pike Road shop that promotes local artistry and creative workshops to help the community bloom, always has local and seasonal decor items available that are perfect for sprucing up the home for spring.
Add the Finishing Touch to Landscaping
Once you’ve added in new plants and flowers for the season, the finishing touch is mulching landscaped areas to give it a perfectly finished look for the best possible curb appeal. We will have a Spring Spruce Up event in April that’s the perfect opportunity for this! Froggy Bottom Materials will bring straw to the neighborhood so neighbors can conveniently purchase what they need for their yards. They will even install the straw for an extra fee.
Spring Clean the Neighborhood
We can’t forget about our beautiful neighborhood! The beauty that can be found all around The Waters does take time, effort, and work for upkeep, improvements, and more. Around the neighborhood this spring, our site development team is working hard to spruce up all areas with updated landscaping!
Spring Clean the Community
While it’s important to spring clean our homes, yards, and gardens, it’s also important to think about our community as a whole. During the month of April, The Town of Pike Road will be hosting the 2022 Pike Road Spring Clean Up. All throughout the month, groups can volunteer to clean up areas around Pike Road. It’s a great way to get involved with the community with this annual beautification initiative in partnership with Alabama People Against a Littered State.
We all need a fresh start and new beginnings, and the spring season is the perfect time to take that approach for our homes, gardens, neighborhood, and community. When you live at The Waters, you will love taking care of all these things, and you will also have a lot of fun doing it!
