Repost from The Town of Pike Road

Pike Road Welcomes its First Superintendent, Dr. Suzanne Freeman

After a thorough application and interview process and by a unanimous vote, the Pike Road School Board selected Dr. Suzanne Freeman to lead the Pike Road School System as its first superintendent.
Freeman was greeted with applause as she was introduced at this morning’s Town Council Meeting by school board president, Ray Hawthorne.
“To the board, one of the biggest and most important factors is that she understands the vision and the dream that is Pike Road.  She understands that we are neighbors helping neighbors.  She understands that we are a town doing the right thing for the right reasons.  She understands that we are a community-  that we are a team, and she understands that education is a strong cornerstone for this community,” said Hawthorne.  “We’re confident that she will help guide us in the right direction and set up and continue to build a strong educational foundation for all children of Pike Road.”  Click here to watch this morning’s council meeting on our YouTube channel.
Freeman comes to Pike Road with a number of years experience in education.  She has served as superintendent for Trussville City Schools as well as Cullman City Schools.  She was named the 2008 State Superintendent of the Year and was one of four finalists in 2009 for National School Superintendent of the Year.
Mayor Gordon Stone added, “”I’m so very proud of the way this process was handled and the collaborative way our board worked together with the community during the process. That’s how it’s supposed to work, and I think they’ve done a great job.”
